Spring into Bloom 

As the chilly air of winter fades, Hellerick’s Farm bursts into life with the vibrant colors of spring flowers. Imagine strolling through fields dotted with: 

• American Legion – Red Poppies 
• Bachelor Buttons 
• Cornflowers 
• Larkspur 
• Peonies 

These aren’t just any flowers; they’re a signal that warmer days are here.  

Planning a visit around Memorial Day weekend? You’re in for a treat as these beauties are in full spectacle, ready for you to pick and bring a piece of spring into your home. Three years ago, we transplanted 300 peony plants our grandparents planted about 100 years ago. They come in all the traditional peony colors: pink, white, blush, and burgundy. They normally bloom right around Memorial Day and will also be available for cutting! 

Summer’s Bounty 

As we wave goodbye to spring, summer greets us with its own treasures. Hellerick’s Farm transforms into a haven of U-pick crops and flowers that are as fun to pick as they are delicious and beautiful. Here’s what you can look forward to: 

U-Pick Crops 

• Sugar Snap Peas: Crisp and crunchy, these are a refreshing snack straight from the vine.  
• Red and Yellow Raspberries & Blackberries: Sweet, juicy, and perfect for any summer dessert.  

U-Pick Flowers 

Summer isn’t just about the fruits; it’s also a time for flowers that turn the farm into a painter’s palette. At our farm, you’ll find two to three acres of Zinnias and Cosmos blooming in 30 different colors! When summer is in full swing, you can also find five acres of sunflowers in 25 different colors, shapes, and sizes.  We carefully plant new sunflower fields every two weeks, so from August until late October, you can enjoy these sunny flowers. 

These blooms are not only perfect for a summer bouquet but also make for the most picturesque day out. Whether you’re a photographer, a nature lover, or just someone looking to brighten up their home, these flowers are sure to delight you. 

New this Fall: Pick Your Own Indian Corn and Broom Corn 

Visit our specialty field and carefully pick ears of corn. Then pull back the husks to reveal a rainbow of colored corn kernels. Colors range from pale blues and pinks to deep reds, browns and oranges. Each ear of corn is a surprise!  

Red, Brown, and Black Broom Corn: 

Broom corn is easy to pick and has many uses! Many people love to bundle three ears of corn together and hang them on the front door for a beautiful fall decoration or instant bird feeder.  You can also knock off all the seeds on the ends and tie them together to create your very own natural boom for sweeping floors or create a whisk broom for small clean-up jobs.
