Pick Your Own Flowers

Pick Your Own Flowers at Hellerick’s Adventure Farm
Fresh Flowers, Family Fun, and a Summer Tradition in Bucks County
Summer is one of the best times to visit Hellerick’s Adventure Farm, and one of our most popular seasonal activities is Pick Your Own Flowers. Whether you’re looking for a unique family outing, fresh flowers for your home, or a relaxing way to spend time outdoors, our flower fields offer an experience that visitors of all ages can enjoy.
Located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Hellerick’s Adventure Farm has been family owned and operated for seven generations. We take pride in giving guests an opportunity to experience agriculture while creating lasting family memories. Our Pick Your Own Flower field is one more way we connect visitors with the farm while showcasing the beauty of summer.
Unlike buying flowers at a grocery store or florist, picking your own flowers allows you to choose every stem yourself. Each bouquet is unique because every guest creates their own arrangement. Some people prefer bright, colorful bouquets while others like softer shades. However you arrange your flowers, you’ll leave with something you created yourself.
How Pick Your Own Flowers Works
Our Pick Your Own Flower experience is simple and fun.
When you arrive, you’ll receive a flower vase that’s included with your purchase. We also provide cutting snips, so there’s no need to bring your own tools. Walk through the flower field, select your favorite flowers, and fill your container with as many flowers as you can fit.
Many guests are surprised by how much they can fit into one container. Some like to focus on one type of flower, while others mix different colors and varieties to create a bouquet that’s completely unique.
If you’d like even more flowers, additional containers are available for purchase.
The experience is designed so guests can move at their own pace. There is no rush. Take your time walking through the field, enjoy the scenery, and choose the flowers that catch your eye.
More Than an Acre of Seasonal Flowers
Our flower field covers more than an acre and changes throughout the growing season. Different flowers bloom at different times, so every visit can be a little different.
Depending on when you visit, you’ll find a colorful mix of seasonal flowers that are ideal for cutting and arranging. Throughout the summer, the field continues producing new blooms, giving visitors plenty of fresh flowers to choose from.
One of the most popular flowers in our field is the zinnia.
Zinnias are well known for their bright colors, long stems, and long vase life. They bloom in a wide range of colors including pink, red, orange, purple, white, yellow, and many shades in between. Because they continue blooming throughout the summer, they provide plenty of opportunities to create colorful bouquets.
Many guests choose mostly zinnias because they mix well together and stay fresh for several days after being cut.

A Different Experience Every Visit
One of the things visitors enjoy most is that the flower field changes throughout the season.
Early summer brings the first blooms of the year. As the weeks go by, additional flowers begin blooming while earlier flowers continue producing new blossoms. Weather also plays a role in what is blooming, making every visit unique.
Some guests visit several times throughout the summer because they enjoy seeing how the flower field changes from month to month.
No two bouquets are ever exactly alike.
Fun for All Ages
Pick Your Own Flowers is one of those activities that everyone can enjoy together.
Children enjoy searching for their favorite colors and learning about different flowers. Parents appreciate spending quality time outdoors with their family. Grandparents enjoy creating bouquets to take home and display.
Because everyone moves through the flower field at their own pace, the activity is relaxing and doesn’t require any special experience.
Whether you’re visiting with young children, teenagers, grandparents, or friends, flower picking is an activity everyone can participate in.
Many visitors tell us that creating their bouquet together becomes one of the highlights of their day.

Tips for Creating a Beautiful Bouquet
You don’t need to be a florist to create an attractive arrangement.
Here are a few simple tips:
- Choose flowers in different heights.
- Mix several colors together.
- Add flowers that are just beginning to open along with fully opened blooms.
- Cut stems long enough to trim later.
- Remove leaves that will sit below the water line in your vase.
- Arrange larger flowers first, then fill in with smaller blooms.
Most guests are surprised at how professional their finished bouquet looks.
Caring for Your Fresh Flowers
To help your flowers last longer after you get home:
- Place the flowers in water as soon as possible.
- Trim about one inch from the bottom of each stem at an angle.
- Use a clean vase.
- Change the water every two or three days.
- Remove any flowers that begin to fade.
- Keep the bouquet away from direct sunlight and heat vents.
With proper care, many flowers will stay fresh for a week or longer.
